THE biggest Crompton Lodge in Moses Gate Country Park has been drained while vital maintenance work is carried out using environment-friendly techniques. The work is being carried out as part of a phased programme of restoration to the lodge edges which have become worn by the effects of wave action. Workers from the Council's Leisure Services Department are employing bio-engineering techniques using natural materials to provide safer edges to the lodge.
Coir fibre rolls alongside natural plant materials and hazel and alder poles are being used to stabilise the banks.
The work is expected to take about another four weeks and it is hoped the lodge will fill up quickly after that.
