BOLTON Strings Together Ensemble present their fifth concert on Saturday starting 11am at Somerset Road United Reformed Church, Heaton.

Tickets are £1.50 (concessions £1) and all proceeds will go to Christian Aid. There are two string orchestras with ages ranging from eight to 13 years. The children practise every Saturday morning 9.15am to 11.15am in the newly refurbished church with their conductor David Vernon, a tutor at Chethams School of Music.

David also conducts the Bolton Chamber Orchestra which gives regular concerts throughout the year.

Born in the Isle of Man, but now living in Bolton, David started learning the violin when he was eight years old and later - in his 20s - the viola.

Entrance to the Strings Together Ensemble is by audition and the children give concerts in the church at the end of each term. At the moment they are in need of new players, especially cellists. If you know someone who can play either violin, viola or cello contact David on 01204 497756.
