THE National Federation of Builders is cracking down on "cowboys".
Measures include a new Code of Practice and tougher membership criteria.
The Fair Deal Contract between federation builders and their customers will help overcome disputes and avoid costly and time-consuming claims and counter claims.
Mr David Marlow, chairman of the National Federation of Builders in the North-west, said: "Disreputable builders destroy confidence in our industry. Our new package of measures will give consumers greater peace of mind and ensure stringent quality thresholds are met by our members." Mr Marlow, who runs his own small building firm in Bolton, continued: "The National Federation of Builders is a major voice in the construction industry and in the forefront of industry moves to shield the consumer."
