SIR: My husband and I own a small off-licence/grocers on Lord Street, Kearsley, and of course, we are very concerned that the proposed supermarket to be built on Old Hall Street, Kearsley, will affect our trade. Another supermarket in our area is not necessary.
We are also concerned, that if the new road scheme is allowed to go ahead, our once peaceful streets (Lord St., Mather St., High Stile St., Church Road) will be turned into a rat run for traffic avoiding the packed main highway.
The supermarket will introduce more traffic onto an already overloaded system which will ultimately find it's way down our streets. On Lord Street and Church Road there are two schools and one pre-school. It is madness to make these streets busier than they already are.
Bolton Council should scrap these plans and in future inform the people who matter, the people who live here.
