BOLTON and Bury have been chosen to pilot schemes to improve the lot of old folk.
The initiatives, announced by the Government, aim to provide better services for the elderly and give pensioners a greater say in society.
The two-year schemes will be led by Bolton and Bury councils in partnership with old folk and agencies including health trusts, police and voluntary groups.
Full details about the practical benefits the projects will bring will not emerge until after their launch in June.
But aims include improving access to better services and involving old folk more in community matters.
