A FAIRGROUND owner is offering a reward to catch firebugs who attacked a ride in Bolton on Wednesday night.
The arsonists set fire to a waltzer carriage - but the ride was saved because an attendant, who was locking up the deserted site, spotted the blaze early.
Firemen were called to the travelling fun fair off Weston Street, Burnden, at 11pm and quickly put out the blaze believed to have been started with petrol.
The carriage and part off the roof was destroyed, causing more than £3,000 worth of damage. Owner Henry Hill, aged 36, says he will give a cash reward for information leading to an arrest. Mr Hill said: "It's a good job we got this caught in time, otherwise the whole fairground could have gone up in flames."
