DETECTIVES are hunting a pervert who indecently assaulted a teenage boy - after threatening to kill him.

The man assaulted the terrified boy after stopping to ask him for directions.

The attack happened last Friday when the man stopped the boy shortly before 11pm in Woodgate Street, Great Lever, and asked him to direct him to Walker Avenue.

Police say the boy agreed to accompany him. The pair then walked along a back street off Parkfield Road and along Smedley Avenue, but, on waste land near Walker Avenue the thug attacked the boy. He was pushed on to the ground and pinned down before being indecently assaulted. The man fled after again threatening the teenager.

Detectives hunting the pervert want to speak to anyone who may have any information or knowledge of who the attacker is. In particular they want to speak to a man called "Danny" who passed the pair before the attack and appeared to know the wanted man.

Police say the attacker himself is white, 6ft tall, in his 30s with stubble on his face and grey or blondish hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a black or blue thigh-length jacket, dark trousers or jeans and a beige or cream jumper with a rolled-up neck.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bolton Central CID, tel: 0161 856 5665 or Crimestoppers on the free phone number 0800 555 111.
