SIR: I nominate as Rats of the Week, the young people who at 3.30pm on Sunday, March 22, 1998, fired 'water canons' and threw water-filled balloons from a car as they cruised Cox Green Road, Egerton, then raced away from the scene.
I was one of their victims and was both shocked and soaked as was the mother and young son hit by water as they cycled along the road. Another gentleman soaked by a balloon that struck his back suffered an asthma attack brought on by the shock.
I suspect these louts were in a parent's car, a bright blue, metallic 'P' registration Ford Fiesta with black bumpers. Perhaps this will ring a bell with the parents who I hope will grasp the nettle and report them to the police. Their next victim could be someone with a heart condition and the consequences then would be much more serious.
I praise the police for their prompt and courteous attention and the effort they made to look for the car and its occupants but, unfortunately, to no avail.
