SIR: It was with amazement and disgust I read of the sheer audacity of Bolton Council in deciding to set aside £3 million of our council tax money, to ensure that Town Hall workers would not lose out if they had to be deployed into a different job. Why should they get preferential treatment?
What about the large number of gardeners who were made redundant six years ago?
There was no offer of deployment or share of £3 million for them. Of course they are only normal workers, not white collar.
It's about time there was a change of council here. A Conservative council wouldn't be so intent on continuously spending. No wonder the council tax is everlastingly increasing.
I shall vote Tory at the elections in May. I hope many others think the same way.
