SIR: I am writing in admiration of Pat Graham of Lexus Greyhound Rescue who carried out a night raid to rescue abused dogs. I totally admire this woman because of her actions in saving those poor animals any further suffering. Although it may be seen to be 'against the law' doing what she did, who else was willing to save them, not the RSPCA who saved some dogs, but for some reason left many behind to suffer on?
I was under the impression the RSPCA were here to stop this kind of cruelty. It seems not. It is left to people like Pat, who, unlike the RSPCA, has no funding, apart from donations she has to beg for, to rescue and look after these unfortunate dogs. I now find it hard to believe the RSPCA put the animals' welfare first.
I have never met Pat, but after speaking to her on the phone, am appalled to learn she is being 'hounded' for her actions to save these dogs. If she is taken to court for this, there is no justice. So come on animal lovers, rally round. Help Pat. Write to the papers. Let's all do our bit however small to try to help Pat and not have her hindered in her good work. The only reward she gets, is to see a rescued dog, healthy, happy, and in a good home.
