CHILDREN from Beech House Preparatory School, Bolton, raised money for Vision Aid by taking part in a sponsored read. Friends and relatives sponsored them to read up to six books each in their "readathon" during a recent Book Week.
The children wrote book reviews, sold books for the Blue Peter appeal and dressed up as book characters.
A cheque for £2,060 was presented to Mr Norman Paine, a representative of Vision Aid, on Monday, March 30.
Earlier in the term Mr Paine had showed the children Braille books, "feely" books, large print and devices for magnifying print.
The children hope that the money will be used to add to the library of special books which are borrowed by blind and partially sighted children from all over the country.
