BOLTON College students will be mixing with royalty later this month when Princess Anne visits a Nottingham charity.
The students are taking part in the college's GNVQ Health and Social Care Course and gaining practical experience by working as volunteers at the Winged Fellowship Trust's Skylarks residential care centre in Nottingham. The centre specialises in providing respite breaks for carers and holidays for people with severe physical disabilities.
Caroline Bell, Rachel Walker, Vanessa Inman, Rebecca McNulty, Angela Owen, Rebecca Hart and Michelle Gregory will meet the Princess Royal on May 13 when she officially opens the centre, which has just undergone a £1.5 million refit.
Bolton College has been sending students to Winged Fellowship centres for 10 years.
"The majority have a wonderful time and quite a number volunteer again in their own time," said Don Astley, head of Health Studies at Bolton College.
