A CRUEL man dumped a dog in Breightmet and left it to fend for itself.
Jean Hardman said the "heartless" man pushed the black and white collie out of his vehicle in Blenheim Road and drove off.
The dog was roaming the streets for a week before it was picked up by the dog warden and taken to the Destitute Animal Shelter.
But the sad story has a happy ending because the BEN has discovered the dog was found a new home by the animal shelter.
A delighted Mrs Hardman, 53, said: "I am so pleased to hear the good news.
"I couldn't believe that anyone could be so cruel and I felt really sorry for the dog. It was out in the rain and was exhausted. Now I hear it has a new home I am really pleased."
THE RSPCA is hoping to help a lurcher type dog seen roaming around Tesco at Horwich.
The Bolton branch has received a number of calls about the dog but says the dog is difficult to capture because it is timid.
It is hoped a kind-hearted local person can be found to try to gain the dog's confidence so that it can be rescued by the dog warden.
The animal will then be given the help it needs. Anyone who will feed the dog to gain its confidence is asked to contact the RSPCA on Bolton 521160.
