AN ancient village church will echo to the sound of music at a special festival this weekend.
Organisers of the Rivington Spring Festival can't wait for the curtain to go up on the popular event after attracting quality musicians to perform.
The Rivington Music Society has brought together a wide variety of events ensuring there is something for everyone who visits the village church.
Tomorrow, Friday, May 8, 'A Man, A Woman and a Double Bass' will perform a wide rage of musical styles from Beethoven to Gershwin.
The duo is, in fact, Peter Buckoke, one of the few solo bass players in the country, and Lowri Blake, a solo cellist and contemporary music singer and cabaret artiste.
The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £25 with dinner and £6 concert only. They are available from Isabella Leigh-Bramwell on 01204 694913 or Sheila and Peter Tonge on 01257 262958.
On Saturday, Rivington and Blackrod Brass Band will play on the village green between 2pm and 4pm.
In the evening at 7.30pm, there will be concert by 'The Brixi Singers' - a chamber choir of approximately 22 members conducted by Richard Lea.
On Sunday, the morning service at the church will be conducted by the Bishop of Middleton. During the service, music will be performed by the Bolton Madrigal Choir.
