BOLTON artists are enjoying the chance to show off their talents at a major exhibition in the town. More than 150 pieces of art are currently on display in a massive empty warehouse above Copyplan in Bradshawgate. And organiser Gwen Mulliner, a visual arts student at Bolton Institute, says she's been delighted with the interest shown so far.
The exhibition, 'Out of the Blue', was officially opened in April when more than 300 people attended a special preview evening.
Exhibits on display include sculpture, photography, print, watercolours and oils and are the work of a diverse range of Bolton artists.
It follows on the success of a similar art showcase 'In the Red' also organised by students from Bolton Institute last year.
Gwen, who travels to the Institute from her home in Lancaster, said: "I was asked if I would carry the exhibition on and I've put a lot of effort into it.
"There's a huge selection of art on display ranging from work completed by schoolchildren through to pieces completed by people who have been ill.
"The warehouse is an ideal place to showcase art. We were absolutely delighted with the number of people who turned up for the preview. It was a real pat on the back for us."
The exhibition runs until May 22 and is open from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and 1pm to 4pm on Mondays.
