TWO Bolton health organisations are in line for a "substantial" cash handout - thanks to the Manchester and Salford Hospital Saturday Fund. The non-profit making health fund is to match the proceeds from ticket sales for the forthcoming Bolton Prom, aimed at both celebrating the 50th anniversary of the NHS and helping Royal Bolton Hospital and Bolton Hospice. The world famous Halle Orchestra will be performing on July 11 at Bolton's Victoria Hall, and the 1,400 tickets have already been sold.
Hospital Saturday Fund chief executive, Richard Sear, also announced that following a period of sustained growth, the fund is increasing donations made through its charitable trust.
"I want to issue a challenge to the charities we work with," explained Mr Sear. "Come to us with imaginative fund-raising ideas, and we will support you with money and initiatives that will enhance your work."
The Hospital Saturday provides low cost healthcare plans which pay out cash benefits towards members' medical bills not covered by the National Health Service, such as dental and eye care.
It also pays benefits in the event of maternity or hospitalisation and members receive free personal insurance.
Prom Week in Bolton, rounded off by the Halle concert, will include a host of other events and Bolton Hospice volunteer fund-raiser, Sheila Tonge, said a full listing would be announced soon.
