SIR: It is very sad to read letters like the one printed in a recent edition of the Bolton Evening News, by Mr Alex Martin, who in sarcastic tones objects to people who complain about smoking in public.
I think it has been medically proven now, that smoking is injurious to health, and I don't know why smokers like Mr Martin think they have the right to make members of the public smell of horrible nicotine, and poisonous chemicals, just because they smell of them.
Smokers should smoke where their disgusting habit does not affect others. I am now at sixth form college, where people who do smoke, have the courtesy to do it away from people who do not want to be subjected to the unpleasantness.
Thankfully Mr Martin, not all smokers are selfish people.
