COLIN Todd admits to being in the dark over what to expect from Chelsea in tomorrow's do-or-die survival showdown.
The Wanderers boss has a selection dilemma for the game he describes as the most important of his career: whether to stand by the defence that has won successive games to keep his Premiership hopes alive or recall his Player of the Year - his son, Andy.
Information on the opposition would normally be taken into account when such decisions are made but that's not possible in this case with Gianluca Vialli keeping the guessing game going right to the end.
"I can't even consider the opposition even if I wanted to," Todd joked this morning. "All I can say is that they'll probably play 4-4-2. It's anybody's guess what the personnel will be."
Todd Jnr was tipped for an immediate return last weekend after missing the win at Aston Villa because of suspension. But Gerry Taggart, who was impressive in his first start for six months in that 3-1 win, kept his place and featured prominently again in the 5-2 hammering of Crystal Palace. All will be revealed at Stamford Bridge when the teams are handed in at 3.15 tomorrow afternoon.
All being well, it will be Chelsea who will have all the problems.
Wanderers know they need to win just one football match and they will have secured a place in the Premiership for another season.
They could even afford to draw or lose - provided Everton don't get a better result in their final game at home to Coventry!
They will be playing for the highest possible stakes at Stamford Bridge but the manager was showing no signs of tension when he rolled back the years with a rare public appearance at the Reebok.
Todd and his backroom staff beat the amateurs of local office equipment firm Penningtons in a company 5-a-side tournament.
Looking relaxed himself, the manager said: "That's how it's been all week here. There's been a lot said about and by Chelsea, Everton and Coventry. We've just been keeping ourselves focussed. "We know we need to win just one more game and we've survived."
