SIR: I was delighted to learn from your article:Lesson in road safety (BEN Tuesday, May 5) that Withins School pupils are to receive a visit from a speaker from the Driving Standards Agency, about the driving test and related topics of road safety.
As you so rightly point out in your leader column, the statistics show all too clearly that the young driver is very vulnerable, and any initiatives that can help reduce the dreadful toll of young people killed and injured on our roads, is to be applauded.
In this context, your readers may be interested to know that the local group of Advanced Motorists are starting a new course on June 4, and are subsidising the test fees for drivers aged 17 to 25, to the tune of £15. Further details are readily available from Les Wardle on 01204 36l064.
