IT'S reassuring to know that, in the wake of the successful City Challenge scheme, the Halliwell Loan Fund continues to aid local development in the area.
Set up to aid small business start-ups, it still continues the system and has a string of employment successes.
It would be easy for such a rolling programme of major cash injection to simply roll away, leaving areas to fend for themselves afterwards. The Loan Fund's continued existence is a tribute to realistic planning.
