BOLTON Business Ventures - the local enterprise agency - is celebrating its 15th anniversary.
BBV, which is based in Lower Bridgeman Street, Bolton, is a not-for-profit partnership between the private sector and Bolton Council.
It was legally incorporated on May 11, 1983.
Chief executive Paul Davidson said today: "Over the last 15 years we have assisted more than 6,000 businesses to grow and expand their operations - creating more than 5,000 new jobs - and supported over 1,200 new business start-ups."
He added: "We have invested £3 million into Bolton companies via the various loan funds which we operate and we have provided workshop and office accommodation for 400 small businesses."
Over the years the agency has grown into Bolton Enterprise Group, comprising BBV, Bolton Business Centre and Bolton Enterprise Centre.
The group has a turnover of £1.2 million and employs 18 people.
The agency delivers business support services under contract to BBTEC/Business Link Bolton and Bury as well as contracts under the Single Regeneration Budget.
Mr Davidson addeed: "We are proud that BBV is an indispensible part of the Bolton business community.
"We owe our success to the sponsors, partners and clients who have put their trust and commitment into the Agency and provided the opportunity to be innovative and entrepreneurial in our work with small businesses."
