BOLTON-born swimming supremo Hamilton Bland has been sacked by the Amateur Swimming Association and the BBC after a bribery investigation.
Mr Bland, aged 55, was criticised after a year long inquiry decided he had taken payments from pool manufacturers while acting as an adviser to local authorities. The ASA has now announced Mr Bland's sacking and the BBC has terminated his contract.
The disgrace has brought to an end a glittering career for the former Folds Road and Hayward School pupil.
He began his love of swimming as a member of Bolton swimming and water polo teams. After leaving Loughborough College, where he became the youngest captain they had ever had, he was appointed Master-in-Charge of Physical Education at Rugby School at the age of 21.
Mr Bland now lives in Warwickshire. In a statement today he denied any wrongdoing.
