A TEENAGER is back home after being rescued in a weekend seaside diving drama.
Rachel Duxbury, aged 16, of Westhoughton Road, Adlington, was diving with the Farnworth Sub Aqua Club on Sunday when she began to suffer from decompression sickness.
She had been diving in 14 metres of water at Ravens Head, Anglesey, and suffered chest pains when she reached the surface.
She managed to struggle to rocks but briefly lost consciousness.
Leading diver Lyndon Crossley called the coastguard and an RAF helicopter was diverted from Liverpool to winch her from the rocks and fly her to Murrayfield Hospital in Wirral.
After X-rays and examinations it was found she had a bubble of air trapped between her lungs and rib cage.
She was kept in hospital overnight and released yesterday.
Rachel, who has been diving with the Farnworth club for more than two years, said: "As soon as I got to the surface I felt the chest pains but I wasn't really worried because everyone was great and reacted well."
