BOLTON fans are calling on the FA to take a point away from Everton as the club faces charges over last weekend's pitch invasion at Goodison Park.

The FA has confirmed that bosses at the Merseyside club will be hauled before them at a hearing to be held at the Everton ground at the end of this month.

And many fans believe the FA should use the ultimate punishment of deducting a vital point which would see Bolton staying in the Premier League.

Earlier this month the FA warned all clubs they faced possible points deductions and hefty fines if they failed to control fans in the nailbiting run in to the end of the season.

But despite the widely publicised warning, TV viewers saw thousands of jubilant Everton fans flood onto the Goodision pitch to celebrate their team's last ditch escape from relegation.

Since then there has been a growing feeling amongst many football fans, in and out of Bolton, that action should be taken against the Blues.

Stoke City supporter Peter Grundy phoned the BEN to say: "It's all everybody's talking about here, we all feel sorry for Bolton.

"Everyone feels it's one rule for the big clubs like Everton and another for smaller clubs like Bolton and Stoke. The FA should do what they threatened and deduct a point from Everton."

Many Bolton supporters also contacted the BEN to call for action against Everton but Davey Dave of fanzine Tripe and Trotters disagreed.

He said: "We are going down and we cannot do anything about it. Bolton have done that sort of thing in the past and calling for another team to have points deducted because of discipline problems is wrong. It just smacks of sour grapes."

FA spokesman Steve Double said of Everton: "They are facing charges in relation to crowd control and this will be dealt with at the end of this month."

Asked about a possible points deduction he added: "We do not speculate on the outcome of any case until it has been heard."

But BEN Wanderer's expert Gordon Sharrock warned: "Bolton fans should not raise their hopes too high. I believe that it is in the realms of fantasy that Everton will have points deducted."
