THE lack of facilities for visitors to the Anglezarke area is causing indiscriminate parking, trespass and a general deterioration in the quality of the area. This is claimed in a report which suggests greater opportunities for recreation in the 50 square mile moorland area to the east of the Rivington reservoirs and Lever Park, including such places as Winter Hill, Anglezarke, and the Entwistle and Wayoh reservoirs.

WITH private cars virtually off the road until June, Whitsuntide holidaymakers will have to travel either by train or motor coach this year. In Bolton, extensive arrangements, especially for coach travel, have been made to accommodate holiday crowds, and bookings have been heavy. Anticipating difficulty in getting into cafes over the weekend, many travel-wise Boltonians are taking their food with them.

A VERY interesting cricket match was played between Farnworth and Haslingden on the ground of the latter, on Saturday last. Farnworth played their new professional, Nimrod Marsden, and Haslingden their professional W. Robinson. Not withstanding the odds of two professionals to one, Farnworth only lost by nine runs, and this was clearly attributable to their very indifferent fielding which enabled the Haslingden Club to put on about 15 runs. The batting of Farnworth was considerably above the average in merit. F. Topp bowled and batted in better than his usual style for Farnworth, and for it he was rewarded with the applause of the numerous spectators. John Leach, the secretary of the Farnworth, much to his surprise, and the surprise of many of the spectators, was given out by the Haslingden umpire leg before wicket, without scoring, and further on in the game whilst wicket keeping, we regret to state, received a cut on the top of the right eye, which necessitated his retiring from the game at a very critical point in it for Farnworth.
