SIR: Very interested to read 'Another Missed', or should it have been headed 'Another Hit'?, by J P Holt of Breightmet (BEN: May 8), who enunciates an example of a friend totally dedicated to 50 years of physical training of boys in the art of wrestling.

J P Holt asks: "How can they overlook such a man for an award."

Yet there are many loyal Boltonians, who are deserving of such awards. In the past we have had Boltonians founding Scout and Wolf Cub groups, and, also youth clubs in Victoria, Australia.

Many more young Boltonians and veterans have endured the rigours and hardships of East Africa, to work among the starving population.

Yet knowing Nat Lofthouse, he would be the first to acknowledge their achievements. But J P Holt has the last word. I quote: "His payment was the satisfaction he got from helping young boys develop into young men of character and confidence."
