ORGANISERS have been forced to pull the plug on an annual Chorley pop concert just weeks before it was due to be staged for only the second time.
Music Heaven - launched in Astley Park last summer - will not go ahead this year due to insurmountable problems.
But it is hoped the concert will be relaunched in 1999 - providing it receives more support.
Chorley Borough Council said the tremendous organisational workload and a shortage of volunteers on the ground forced its cancellation.
Voluntary organiser Frank Clarke said: "We have had excellent support from Chorley council, but sadly it has just not been possible with the resources and manpower available to us to get things sorted out in time. We are optimistic for 1999."
Last year's concert was a success - despite being hit by bad weather with the rain reducing attendances.
Anyone interested in helping organise the 1999 concert should contact Chorley Borough Council's community resources officer, Jamie Carson, on 01257 515309.
