Chorley Nissan Sunday League IN the Supplementary Cup final Brookes Arms from Chorley met Coppull-based Wheatsheaf at Coppull United's ground.
The first half finished goalless despite Wheatsheaf having the lion's share of possession as they couldn't find a way past Brookes' keeper.
The second period started in much the same fashion, but when a goal came it was Brookes who were celebrating, with Ralph Jolly finding the target after 55 minutes.
After the goal Brookes decided to play an extra defender and try to shut up shop. The plan worked as Wheatsheaf failed to find the target as the Brookes Arms was equal to everything thrown at him, and Brookes held on to win 1-0.
The second cup final played on Sunday was also at Coppull United with an afternoon kick-off as Brooklyn Athletic from Bolton met Adlington's Clayton Orient in the Guardian Shield.
Orient started the brighter but failed to convert any of the chances they created until the half hour when top scorer Ashcroft did the damage.
The rest of the game followed much the same pattern as the early stages as Clayton continued to miss numerous chances.
Brooklyn did themselves no justice as they failed to make any impact on the game and ended up losing 1-0. Orient captured the shield to add to the Mitre Trophy which they won only a fortnight ago.
The only league games played were all in the second division. First half goals from Collings (two) and Ashcroft saw leaders Euxton Mills beat Withnell United 3-1. Second placed Farmers Arms also won 3-1 away to Red Lion and Euxton WMI were no match for Golden Lion, going down 8-1.
