SIR: Please allow me, through your column, to express my disgust at a certain area of Halliwell. The area in question seems to be a "no go area" as far as street development goes.
On a recent return visit to this area I was shocked to see the decline in the standard of the back streets, back walls etc. The area between Eskrick St. and Rushey Fold Lane and Arnold St. to Halliwell Rd. has taken on the appearance of slum proportions. Both sides of this area have had extensive building improvement work done, but some of the back streets are showing signs of subsidence.
Surely someone at Town Hall must be aware of the state of this area's steadily declining standard of highways and walls. I would be very interested if anyone could give any information on this problem, as it left a very lasting impression on myself on what was otherwise a very enjoyable visit to the next "City" of England.
Come on Bolton M.B.C. and make this an area to be proud of
