GOLBORNE will want to home in on winning points tomorrow as their major rivals face tricky away games,

The champions are the only one of the leading trio to have a home game tomorrow when they meet an Edgworth side that has had a disappointing start to the season while nearest challengers Standish go to fourth placed Darcy Lever and third placed Spring View are at Astley and Tyldesley.

Andy Batterley who has had to shoulder the responsibility of captaincy at Golborne after a broken finger ruled out Ian Seddon for up to six weeks, has shown that he will not let it become a burden as he continues to lead by example while the return of all rounder Paul Robinson has given the side added impetus.

At the moment there looks little to challenge Golborne's dominance although Atherton have exposed the side's beating them in the opening round of the Cross Cup before scoring 182 against them last week in a league match cut short by the weather.

Edgworth, who ended last season challenging Golborne for the title, are in the uncharacteristic position of second bottom and could hardly be relishing a trip to the champions.

Yet if they could bring off the surprise result of the day, what a way for Edgworth to renew their challenge for honours.

The programme offers a number of local derby games with British Aero going to nearby Daisy Hill and Clifton taking on their neighbours from Little Hulton.

Of the last game, both sides have tremendous potential and on paper look to have strength in depth. If one of them could force a win tomorrow then it could transform their season and see them surge up the table.
