SIR: I am writing this letter to complain about the way some breakers' yards (scrap yards) treat the public.
Is there any protection for the way these people operate?
Only last week I went to buy a seat for my van. I was advised the seat would fit, only to discover it did not. On my return, I was told they would not refund my £30 because £20 was for removing the seat in the first place.
After a lot of rowing, I was offered a credit note for my £30. When I feel safe, I may go down and pick it up. In the meantime I am left £30 down and a seat which is no use.
