SIR: I write with reference to the BEN (May 7) headed 'PC's lucky escape'.
Police officers, if they see a stolen car, should report it to the operator, and let the police traffic cars deal with it. Only if the average police officer is answering a 999 call, should they be allowed to have special rules.
Also let us, the public, have some powers over reporting and police officers for speeding, or any motoring offence they commit.
Motorists are an easy target for the police. Let them catch the villains instead of motorists all the time.
