SIR: I am writing to you because I am trying to contact my friend and air crew colleague from World War II.
I realise that this request is a forlorn hope after such a long time.
I have, through the Air Force Association, tried all to no avail, so you are my last hope.
His name is Billy Mills and he flew with me a total number of 32 ops.
We flew in Bostons of 88 Squadron and 342 Lorraine Squadron. I was the WDP/AG and he was my undergunner.
When we had done our Tour of Ops, he went home to Australia, and our pilot went back home to Canada. We finished our ops a few weeks after D Day.
I have found out that my pilot, the Canadian boy, died of a massive heart attack a number of years ago, but as for Billy, nothing since I said goodbye to him all those years ago.
So as you can see you are my last hope.
The only information I can give you is, that he came from a town called Townsville in Australia.
Hoping someone can help.
