SIR: I feel I must express my disgust about our postal service here in Atherton.
I posted a birthday card on Good Friday morning at 11am. The mail is usually collected at 11.30am. I used a first class stamp. I do realise it was Easter. The card arrived at Cleveleys on Friday, April 24. The birthday was on April 21.
I contacted the sorting office in Leigh by phone, who then gave me a Manchester number, then told me first class and second class stamps are put together until they reach the town in question.
On May 9, I posted another birthday card, 10.30am here in Atherton, putting on a second class stamp. Did it get to Cleveleys for the May 12 birthday? No it arrived on May 13, one day late again.
I ask you, we pay more money but get less service.
