STUDENTS from Bury College's three centres have been pounding the pavement to raise money for local charities.
Thirty-five students took part in a 14-mile sponsored walk from Manchester United's Old Trafford ground to Bury.
The six hour walk raised more than £600, and will go towards a local hostel Women Supporting Women, the Bury Deaf Children's Society, and the North West Riding Association for the Disabled.
David Mottershead, student liaison officer at the college, said he was delighted, especially as the group managed to top the amount they raised last year.
He said: "It was hot and hard work, but everyone enjoyed themselves. They were singing all the way."
