SIR: So yet again another bridge "strike" at Weston Street Rail Bridge (BEN May 14).
Surely with all the technology and expertise available at large a simple and cost effective warning system could be used.
Maybe it could be a laser which detects vehicles above a certain height and triggers red flashing lights. Well worth noting is the fact that there are no warning signs that you are approaching an arched bridge, and how many people are aware that the 12ft 6in sign only applies to the bit between the markers, which are quite difficult to spot not being reflective.
Still, it's cheaper and easier to just keep repairing the bridge.
