BOLTON Wanderers have not received any summer enquiries for Alan Thompson.

But the Wanderers boss Colin Todd today revealed that he did receive a firm offer from Premiership club two months ago in excess of £4.5million.

That bid was turned down suggesting Wanderers would not be prepared to let their star midfielder leave for less than a club record-breaking £5million.

Wanderers would be loathe to lose the ever-improving 24-year-old at any price and the prospect of Thompson departing the Reebok Stadium would depend on the player wanting to leave. And Thompson has so far not given any indication that he wants to go.

Everton boss Howard Kendall has made public his desire to recruit Thompson's services through the media - an action which angers Todd who believes such business should be conducted in private - and Leeds, Aston Villa and Spurs are also understood to be monitoring the situation.

Kendall is picking his moment to make a £3.5million bid but has stressed more than once that he does not feel he will unltimately be successful in his chase because Leeds and Villa can give the player the chance of playing in Europe. The price he is willing to pay is also certain to be rejected by Wanderers.
