SIR: "What a load of rubbish" was the headline on a small but important article in the BEN on May 18. It concerned a pile of rubbish in St James Street, Farnworth, that the Council failed to attend to. It was quite clear that the matter had not been reported to the right source.

There are very few people in Farnworth who complain more than myself, and I always get results, be it a missing manhole cover, overhanging tree branches or a pile of rubbish that some fly by night has dumped. Of course to get our new crossing on Glynne Street obviously takes longer.

Our councillors are for ever more reminding us that they are there to deal with our little problems but, if we choose not to contact them, then who can we blame but ourselves?

I didn't vote on May 7, but that doesn't stop me from telling it as it is and giving credit where credit is due. Peace be with you.
