A BOLTON motorcyclist was killed in a road accident last night.
Jason Blenkinsopp, aged 26, of Bradshaw Brow, was travelling along the A675 Bolton Road at Withnell, near Chorley, when the tragedy happened.
Police said Mr Blenkinsopp was on a Suzuki 250 motorbike when he attempted to overtake vehicles on the road.
Chief Inspector Andrew Procter, of Lancashire Police, said he lost control of the bike, fell off and collided with a Fiat Uno travelling in the opposite direction. The driver of the car was Allan Horridge, 29, also from Bolton. Mr Blenkinsopp sustained head injuries when he fell from the bike.
Ch Insp Procter said Mr Blenkinsopp was travelling towards Bolton.
He added: "This is a tragic accident and our sympathies are with this young man's family."
Police are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area when the accident happened at 5.10pm yesterday.
