A 17-year-old Bolton mother has been interviewed in connection with the death of her new born baby girl.
Today a police investigation was examining detailed medical evidence, including a post mortem on the baby, which is believed to have died very soon after birth.
Results of the post mortem have not been made public.
The baby was taken to Bury General Hospital by the Bolton mother, who is not being named, on Friday, but was dead on arrival. The girl's family are said to be distraught over the incident.
Det Insp John Chadwick, of Bolton CID, said detailed medical inquiries would be likely to take about two weeks before any decision is made on whether legal action is necessary.
He said: "We don't know at this stage what action, if any, will be taken. We must wait for the results of the medical investigations."
