SWINTON'S expensively assembled pack laid the platform for a crucial 20-16 victory at second placed Hunslet Hawks.
With three forwards also on the bench, the Lions blasted the Hawks up front to remain on the fringe of the top five.
Steve Gartland laid on the first Lions try, released Paul Barrow who sent Andy Craig over. After the Hawks had grabbed a converted try, Gartland's bomb was collected by Gavin Price-Jones who crashed over at the corner.
Another six points from the Hawks restored their lead but just before the break sub Ian Blease and skipper Sean Casey got Gareth Adams over for a try improved by Ian Watson.
Blease helped set up a second half try for Peter Cannon and although Chris North collected the Hawks third try 10 minutes from time, the Lions managed to hang on.
