Bike-mad Jason killed in smash A BACHELOR was killed in an horrific motorcycle crash as he rode home - having just bought parts for the machine he loved so much. Jason Blenkinsopp, aged 26, suffered appalling head injuries when he fell from his beloved 250cc Suzuki. The tragedy happened as Jason, a welder at Indespension Limited, Bolton, was returning to his home at Bradshaw Brow after buying the parts for his bike in Preston.

Police say the accident happened on Friday when he was overtaking other vehicles on the A675 Bolton Road at Withnell, near Chorley.

A spokesman said he suddenly lost control of his bike, fell into the road and was then struck by an oncoming car.

Jason was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary but died despite frantic efforts to save his life.

Police, who are still appealing for witnesses, have described his death as a "terrible tragedy".

Jason's death has stunned his family. His heartbroken mother Julia said: "It was the first time in ages he had been out on the bike. "He has always had motorbikes. Since the age of 17 he was mad about bikes and guitars."

It is the second tragedy to hit the family. Jason's father died 10 years ago.

Jason and his younger brother Giles, 16, were both close to their mother after their father's death.

The family feared something had happened on Friday when Jason did not arrive home as arranged. Giles and his brother's friend Richard even drove to Preston.

Mrs Blenkinsopp added: "I think Richard suspected something had happened because he rang me from Preston. I just pray to God Jason didn't feel anything, that it was over straight away.

"He was a wonderful son and brother. The two boys drew a lot of strength from each other after the death of their father and I pray he's now at peace."
