FARNWORTH AODS have received four nominations in the Manchester Musical Awards for their production of Bitter Sweet.

The nominations are: Alan Christie for best male lead in a musical; Bernard Smith for best director of a musical and Ruth Mauriello for best supporting actress in a musical and best all-round performer.

They will learn whether they are successful at the Manchester Musical Awards Ceremony at Pembroke Hall on Saturday.

The society has already started rehearsals for their bi-yearly revue, which this year is called That Was the Way That Was.

It will be performed at the Albert Halls, Bolton, on Saturday and Sunday, September 19 and 20.

Tickets are already available from the society's ticket secretary on 01204 527092. Early booking is advisable as some people were disappointed when they were unable to obtain tickets for Farnworth's last revue, One Voice.

Farnworth report that this year attendance at rehearsals was at an all-time high and a record number of people turned up to take part in the revue.

The society is facing a busy year. After the review, Farnworth will again appear in Showcase, following their successful contribution earlier this year at the Bridgewater Hall where £10,000 was raised.

The performance this year is once again for Cancer Research and will take place on Sunday, October 25, at the Palace Theatre, Manchester, where Farnworth will be joined by six other societies.

By then rehearsals will have started for Farnworth's 1999 show - Hit the Deck. Farnworth promises another spectacular this time with a distinctly nautical flavour.

For the year 2,000 Farnworth have chosen the musical Yankee Doodle Dandy as their main show of the year.
