SIR: The new season ticket prices for the Reebok have finally beaten me. From my first match in 1972 (Manchester City at home), to my last match (Chelsea away 1998), I have had my "highs" (Arsenal away in the FA Cup), I have had my lows (Aldershot beating Bolton in the playoffs to relegate us to the 4th division). In the same way Bolton were unable to compete in the Premier, I can no longer compete in the financial stakes of season ticket prices.

Des McBain quoted statistics to back up the increase. As we know from politicians, statistics can be produced for any argument. Try this one: Fact. My season ticket in the East lower has increased over 30pc. "Comparable with West Brom" what has that got to do with anything at all. "We have negotiated better repayment terms. No you haven't. The fact that it is over 12 months not eight means lower APR. BWFC will be taking a better payoff percentage so don't pretend it's for the benefit of fans. I go to the match with my son and know the only place to go is East stand lower, where if you are supporting, it's more vocal. I don't even qualify for the poor end of the ground ie. North stand where everyone knows it's where you are relegated to once you have a family. (I don't even qualify there anyway).

I remember when loyalty was a word used in conjunction with supporters. I have been to matches which people didn't think existed, but because I have not regularly bought a season ticket I'm discarded by being priced out. Unless I can afford to sponsor a player, place an advert or clap politely behind luncheons and private boxes in corporate hospitality I'm given a free transfer.

It's nice to know Des McBain says: "In return we will be giving it a real go next season." That's so reassuring Des. Perhaps if you would have offered the 4,000 tickets for Chelsea to supporters instead of worrying about being left paying for them, I would believe you. I went to Chelsea without any ticket in case you were wondering about my commitment.

Goodbye for the time being BWFC. The past 26 years have been on the whole superb.

I miss you already.
