SIR: I can hardly contain my anger at the sheer greed of BWFC. Once again the poor old punter is expected to pick up the tab for the shortcomings of the directors and the short-sighted management policies of the club.
Whose fault was it that we were relegated again? Not the fans for sure. But to replace my existing tickets for me and my son for next year, I am expected to fork out almost an extra £100. They must be joking. £100 extra to watch the likes of Oxford, Portsmouth, Port Vale and Crewe down here? It's an insult to anyone's intelligence, especially when we all know that possibly our better players may be leaving. Alan Thompson's departure is virtually inevitable, so what will happen? Wanderers will play down transfer speculation for a month or so and fill fans with false hope and sell more season tickets before the bombshell hits. Then who will replace him? Another second rate free transfer or on-loan special?
I could possibly have gone with a £20-£30 increase. I suppose the club would argue that there are four extra home games, but the increases posted are little short of daylight robbery.
I know that Wanderers are Iikely to lose at least £2.5 million in receipts this coming season, but this is down to the ineptitude of those in charge - not the fans.
Thanks a lot, BWFC, my son is in tears because I've had to tell him he won't be going to see his team next season. But I'm afraid my money doesn't come that easily.
