SIR: Tory leader, William Hague, proves once again that he has absolutely nothing to offer the British people. Former Deputy Prime Minister, Michael Heseltine, summed up his leader's latest sop to the Eurosceptic Right as "a speech without an audience".

The Tories' scorched earth policy on Europe is going nowhere. They have no vision for Britain's place in the modern world. Isolationism and inter-factional warfare are not the policies that will be rewarded at the next election. Mr Hague is still the captain of a mutinous ship.
