THE skies above Bolton will resound to the roar of Second World War aircraft next weekend.

For crowds at this year's Bolton Air Show will have a real treat when they enjoy a combined display by a Spitfire Mark IX and a Hurricane Mark XII.

Both aircraft will travel up for the show from Duxford, near Cambridge, where they form part of the Fighter Collection at the Imperial War Museum.

Organisers of the Bolton Air Show and Gala Day have just announced the extra special attractions for this year's event to be held at British Aerospace Lostock, Sports and Social Club sports grounds on Saturday June 6, starting at noon.

The Hurricane has historical links with the site at Lostock which produced propellers for the aircraft during the Second World War and beyond.

Thrills will also be provided by the RAF's Red Arrows and The Blue Eagles Helicopter Display Team. Entrance for adults is £2 and children get in free.
