INSPECTORS have praised Bolton Parish Church of England School, highlighting its "provision for the pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development".
And the Ofsted team of inspectors described the way in which the school caters for children of travelling showmen families as a particular strength.
The team commented that the school "rightly celebrates its Christian Foundation, in which all pupils are valued", adding "this Christian School has got it right in terms of caring, the culture engenders respect between children".
Chairman of Governors, Canon Alan Wolstencroft, expressed his delight with the report, saying: "We were particularly pleased that the inspectors confirmed that our nursery provided high quality provision with the children making good progress in essential educational skills."
In addition, the school was commended for its strong links with the Parish Church and its range of community, commercial and other faith involvement "which benefit the pupils, broaden their horizons and make them more aware of the community".
However, Inspectors also told governors that there was a need to improve the quality of teaching and learning in Key Stage two, and to extend their vision of the future development of the school.
The report also praised the good leadership of the headteacher, staff and governing body who it said "currently offers satisfactory value for money."
Governors and staff are now formulating their action plan with the aim of enhancing the quality of education offered and continuing to serve the community in which it operates.
