A GROUND-breaking ceremony marking the start of a £1.8 million Bolton housing scheme takes place on Monday.

Work will officially get under way on the residential development, Kensington Court, when housing chiefs meet construction bosses for the ceremony.

Cllr Noel Spencer, chairman of Bolton Council's housing committee, will be joined by Mr Mike Creamer, chief executive of Salford-based Portico Housing Association; Mr Vince Simpson, a Portico committee member and representatives from builders Roland Bardsley Construction.

The development consists of 42 single and two-bedroomed flats based at Kensington Place off St George's Road, Bolton.

Work is expected to be completed by next spring and the building is said to feature some of the newest innovations in building design and construction.
