WIGAN coach John Monie says the Warriors will not be rushed into snapping up overseas stars.
Monie confirmed that he had spoken to North Sydney star Greg Florimo but that no immediate decision had been taken.
The loss of Aussie Test star Wendell Sailor has forced Wigan to renew their efforts Down Under to strengthen the side for next season. With Henry Paul coming off the overseas register two overseas positions will be up for grabs.
"We will probably have two import spots open next year so we are just starting to make inquiries now," said Monie.
"Greg is one player that has let it be known in Australia that his contract is coming to an end and he would like to come to England. We have talked to him and he said he is interested. We are looking at guys who can play in various positions. Anyone who has a couple of strings to their bow.
"We will make decisions in the next couple of months, it is nothing that we will rush into. I want to go right through the full list of players that are coming available. I need players with good speed that can do something in the English game. Florimo is a good strong player who can run onto the ball and play at number six or in the centres. or at loose-forward at a pinch. It is important we get utility players."
Monie also confirmed that he hoped to conclude a deal in the next week or so tying him to Wigan until the year 2000.
